Memories Captured: The Photo Shoot

My boy is such a ham!

I am of course biased because he’s my son but he showed me he can work the camera!

Of course I am guilty for taking gazillion pictures of him since he was born and posted lots of them for both sides of the family to go “Oooh” and “Aaah”.

Yes he’s used to see camera being directed to his face by his Mommy or by his photographer/graphic designer uncle.

But nothing professional.

The closest he had to being a ‘pro’ was when his picture that I took won the photo contest for Holiday Inn Hotel. Now you can still see his face in their hotel in Bangkok.

Some of his pictures had made to one local printed magazines awhile back but those were pictures I took.

Back in 2009, I took him to one talent audition but he didn’t get the part. It was an experience.

So when his uncle, my brother Reggy messaged me last week “Hey, Marriott wants to hired A for their Christmas photo shoot” I gave an a OK.

Why? Because I trusted my brother and I trusted Marriott.

The photo shoot was scheduled for last Sunday 10:00 AM.

Since a couple of days before, I’ve told him we will be having a photo shoot. Explained to him what that means.

You will be taking pictures for Santa, won’t that be fun?” Yes, my boy still believes in Santa! His response? “Does Santa have iPad?Please insert face palm gesture here.

Sunday morning came, all of us went to the Marriott hotel downtown. We were told to wait by the restaurant because they were still in the midst of another photo shoot. Boy got some breakfast of choice. Bagel and nutella? Yeah, he loves it!

The hotel set up kids play area in one of the corner. It’s something they prepare every Sunday for Sunday Brunch.

Mini bowling, small bouncy castle, small balls pit, painting corner. He played there to kill some times while we were waiting.

A little after two hours later, we went upstairs to the 30th floor. Escorted by one of their staff and my brother.

Boy changed to his pajama – a little shorter than I had anticipated! – and they started taking his pictures. They were professional and very patience, something that you must have when it comes to working with little children.

The funniest part?

My boy telling the photographer what to do and improvised on the styles. It was hilarious and he did really good.

I guess posing for Mommy all of these times made him comfortable enough to smile to the camera.

We took lots of break and they gave him chocolate sticks.

Two chocolate sticks later? Hello sugar rush!

Thank God the photo shoot was wrapping up when sugar rush came out in full force. He could barely stand still for the last shots all he wanted to do was running around, jumping and well go crazy.

For a few seconds, I felt like one of those Toddler & Tiaras Mom who stuffed sugar sachets down her little girl’s mouth!

Overall, for a newbie…my boy did really well and I couldn’t be more proud of him. We all had a great time the whole time. He had fun which is a must in my book. If it’s not fun for him then he won’t be doing this.

Will he be doing this more?

Maybe…

I’m still on the fence.

How do you feel about your children doing some modeling/becoming photo model?

I’m linking up with Alison from Writing Wishing and Galit from These Little Waves for their awesome Memories Captured November Link Up. Come check it out and be prepared to get inspired.

Spread the love

What a great experience to have with your son! There’s nothing more reward than to see your child feel good about something by being good at it! Yay for Mama!

You must be one proud mom! Basically he did it himself and that’s a good way to build his confidence (like he needs more…) When A kid is having fun with what he’s doing let him be. It’s his party after all… 😉

Wow, he’s been a model twice, is this a sign of something? 🙂
He’s great to have waited so long for the shoot to start and then still be able to put on his best smiles!! He’s a natural talent! Please do show us the final photos!

What a cutie. And great photos. Now that my oldest is 19 — I wouldn’t mind him sending some photos to an agent. He’s nice looking and in great shape because he plays college athletics. He could get some spending money. Or even more to help supplement the money we are paying not covered by scholarships. I think it would be a win/win. His dad is not in favor of it at all. So there you go.

Those are such great pictures! He’s so handsome!

I am okay with modeling for kids, I just haven’t considered it seriously with either of my girls.
