Hey buddy…
6 is a pretty big number and you are so proud to be 6. It really shines through your bright eyes as you proudly say “I will be 6 years old!” to answer anyone asking.
Look at you!
So tall and lanky…so smart already. You can read a simple book on your own.
Your hair starts to curls on its end as I let it grow longer. How I miss your curls! But this time I am letting you take the lead. So when you said you don’t want to get your haircut, I’m all cool with that.
You are going to be so tall!
As I woke up this morning before the crack of dawn, I silently said a prayer and gently hug you close but not too tight to wake you up. You stirred and snuggled your head closer tome.
“Lord, thank you for another year of having this boy in my life…” my prayer started and tears came pouring out of me.
So much to be thankful for, so much to be grateful for.
6 is a pretty big number…
And I got some wishes for you. This poem by Michelle Stewart melts my heart. I added a tiny part to it.
“I wish you Love. Knowing that no matter what, there is a special group of people who will always be on your side, even when it seems you are all alone.
I wish you Peace. May you will find and put God first in your life. Be thankful for every single thing you are blessed with. Accept who you are and be proud of yourself. Do not expect perfection at all times, allow yourself to be human. Peace will not be far behind.
I wish you Joy. It can be found in the simplest things. The wind blowing through the trees, a child’s smile, a dog’s playing. If you learn how to look, you will find it.
I wish you Happiness. Focus on what you enjoy. Listen to your heart. Make choices that will result in positives, not negatives. Happiness will follow.
I wish you Confidence. Know that you are a capable, responsible person. Do not be afraid to make mistakes, this is how you will learn. You will build confidence.
I wish you Success. Work hard, even when it seems it’s not making a difference. I promise you it is. Success will follow.
I wish you Balance. Know what is important, and put them/it at the top of your list. Remember to respect yourself and others. Balance the personal and professional. This is a must.
I wish you Contentment. Know that where you are is exactly where you are supposed to be. Life changes so fast. There is nothing wrong with striving for better, but don’t forget to enjoy the now. Look around be proud of your accomplishments.
I wish all of this and so much more for you. You are my heart, my life, my greatest accomplishment.
I love you.”
